What are they? The volume eyelash technique developed in Russia has spread and become very popular in the UK. Several ultra-lightweight lashes are applied to each individual lash in a way that does not excessively strain the natural eyelash. Using fine extensions, different techniques are used to fan the extensions, it is then placed in a way that wraps around the isolated natural lash, which aids good retention with no damage! Our Volume fans are created by had at the time of application.
Volume lash extensions create a lightweight, darker and more fluffy look. These extensions are so lightweight that they can be safely applied to create extra volume but still remain very light so they do not weigh down the natural lashes.
Our eyelash extensions are made from soft synthetic material; they have a flat base and a fine tip. Your lashes should blend seamlessly with your own so no one should know that they are eyelash extensions. The result is virtually weightless, dark looking lashes that are comfortable to wear.
Do lash extensions damage your natural eyelashes? Contrary to belief, eyelash extensions if applied correctly, will not damage your own lashes and in fact many clients find that the health of their own lashes improve over time. No damage will be caused as long as your lash extensions are applied correctly by our highly trained technicians and aftercare instructions are followed. Your natural eyelashes will not be damaged unless they are pulled out deliberately with the extension attached to them. In that case, the natural lash will be replaced by a new one as part of the natural lash growth cycle. We pride ourself on our reputation and we have many regular clients who have been wearing these lash extensions for a number of years!
Before your appointment It is important you come to your lash appointment without any eye make up on to ensure best results. Unfortunately if you come to your appointment wearing a lot of mascara or eye make up, we will not guarantee your lashes as oils will break down the glue and may not last as long as expected. You will be advised of all aftercare during your lash treatment, it is really important that you follow the aftercare given. Your lash technician will also show you the products we have to maintain your lashes included the recommended cleanser. You will offered the opportunity to attend the salon for a patch test and a consultation form will be emailed to you, please complete this before attending your appointment. If you choose to go ahead without a patch test (see below for details) you will sign a form stating this before being taken through to the private treatment room.
The treatment process Eyelash extensions are custom selected to suit you, your treatment will begin with a full client consultation. Our skilled technicians will listen to your expectations and discuss the correct extensions for you. Extensions come in a variety of different lengths, curls, thicknesses, colours and can be applied in different styles, so there is something to suit clients of all ages and eye shapes.
Just lie back and relax as your luscious lash extensions are applied by our fully qualified and experienced Lash Technicians. We separate your natural lashes to find suitable healthy lashes to apply the extension to, this ensures no damage is caused. Because each lash is applied individually and volume fans are handmade, the treatment times can vary and may take up to 2 hours. Your treatment will be pain free and relaxing, with many clients taking the opportunity to have a nap.
Please remember results will vary from client to client. The application of eyelash extensions requires a “platform” of existing natural eyelashes to work off. We can only apply extensions to healthy natural lashes, we will refuse to apply something that your natural lashes cannot support, nor can we apply extensions to the skin or eyelid.
Maintenance These false lashes will shed with your natural lashes and after 2-3 weeks you will need an infill to replace the ones you have lost. At your infill appointment we will ensure your lashes are full and looking as fabulous as your first full set. The maintenance procedure simply adds extra extensions to those places where your natural lashes have completed their natural cycle. During your maintenance treatment it may be possible to tweak the look of your extensions, for example, longer/curlier depending on your natural lashes. We will also be able to assess how you are looking after your lashes at home, we will suggest changes where needed so that you can maintain your lashes during appointments. If you would like to upgrade to another of our lash treatments such as Volume or Mega Volume lashes please let us know in advance so that we can ensure we have enough time for your treatment.
Lower lash extensions Extensions can also be applied to your lower natural lashes for that extra WOW look. We can cover around 70% of your lower lashes to create a darker, fuller look. Your natural lashes cannot be tinted whilst wearing extensions so lower lashes are great for clients with fair natural lashes. No need to apply mascara!
Removal of your extensions There is no need to have these lashes removed and a new set applied, regular maintenance appointments mean you can wear these lashes for months and even years! These lashes are professionally applied to ensure no clumps or lumps, creating the look you desire. Should you wish to remove these lashes or have a break, please do not attempt to do this at home! We will be happy to safely remove them using a professional solution and a lot of care; your natural lashes will be in perfect condition. Aftercare All of our lash extensions are very easy to wear and look after Our aftercare advice will be explained to you during your treatment In order for you to get the best out of your new lashes it is essential that you follow the advice given by your lash technician
We stock a lash cleanser that is safe to use with your lash extensions, cleansing your eyes and lashes is essential to maintain your lash extensions between your appointments. If you choose to use another cleanser, unfortunately we will be unable to guarantee your lashes. Cleansing your eyes can prevent inflammation and/or infections occurring and will also help your lashes last longer.
Factors that can cause the lashes to shed As we are working with the body, some things are out of our control, this includes how fast your natural lashes shed. Sometimes our bodies decide it’s time to shed our hair (including our lashes) faster than usual. Unfortunately, this means that your lashes may fall out faster than usual, resulting in lashes not lasting as long and also the need for a shorter time between infills. Don’t worry though, this might only last for one or two lash cycles and your lashes will be back to normal or if any changes are needed your lash technician will let you know. Some factors that affect lash retention: Changes in your health, for example if you become poorly Changes in medication, vitamins and/or herbal remedies Products that you use on your hair, face, body Natural lash shed, they will shed more around autumn & winter Face masks & PPE Using your cleanser incorrectly Pregnancy/ breastfeeding can alter your hormones
Please Note- We do not infill or remove lashes that have been applied at another salon.
Patch testing Cyanoacrylate contained in lash adhesives is the most common reason for reaction to lash extensions. It is an irritant for your skin, eyes and respiratory functions. For this reason lash adhesive should not touch the skin. For many years we have followed the old-school method by patch testing. However this is not clear indication if a reaction will occur as during the treatment adhesive will never touch your skin.
If you are allergic to Cyanoacrylate unfortunately you will not be able to have lash extensions applied.
A patch test does not give you full exposure in the same way a full set would. Lash adhesive allergies are cumulative (meaning they build up over time). It is unlikely that a client will already have an allergy to cyanoacrylate if they have not previously been exposed to this.
LashBase patch testing guidelines are as follows:
we are not required to patch test lash extension clients.
we must fully inform each client of the potential risks involved with lash adhesive reactions. This must be documented and signed by the client and lash artist to confirm they understand and are happy to go ahead. The client should be offered the option for a patch test if they have any concerns.
we must follow our insurers guidelines.
Upon booking your lash extension treatment here at The Lash Lounge, you will be given up to date information regarding lash adhesive and patch testing. Once you have been informed, it is your decision as to wether you would like to have a patch test before proceeding with your treatment. If you would like to have a patch test before your treatment we advise this to be carried out around 48 hours before your treatment. If you do not wish to go ahead with a patch test you will be required to sign a form stating this. Please note no treatment will be carried out without you agreeing to all of our points relating to patch testing.
