There’s no doubt that nowadays more and more of us are suffering from seriously stressed out skin. Here at The Lash Lounge, we have SkinBase treatments available that can treat the symptoms of your skin concerns. However, it’s just as important to address the cause of your skin woes else your skin issues are likely to come straight back.
Is it stress?
Stress can present itself in many different ways throughout the body, including headaches, stomach problems, tiredness and irritability. But it can also manifest as a variety of skin issues such as spots, flaky areas, eczema and rosacea. It can be difficult to work out whether or not stress is the root of these problems, but if you’re experiencing them and you are under any stress, it’s worth considering that it might be the culprit. Stress related skin problems can often be quite stubborn and hard to get rid of, and they will often get worse after periods of intense stress. If this sounds like you, start taking steps to help your body cope, and consider what lifestyle changes you could make to help reduce the stress you’re under. Read on for a few tips to help lift that worry from your shoulders.
Self care for stress
Doing exercise, yoga or meditation can help your body to cope physically with the effects of stress. These practices release happy hormones into the body, and they also give your mind a break from worrying. Stress starts to affect us when we experience it for prolonged periods of time, so by distracting yourself like this, you become stronger and more able to cope.
Lifestyle changes for stress
Eating more healthily, staying hydrated and going to bed on time can all help us to cope better with stress. But you might want to think about whether or not the stress you’re under is worth putting up with – could you be happier in another job? What about therapy? Consider putting yourself first, and focus on creating a life that works for you. Skin problems that are caused by stress are a sign that your body is struggling to cope, so never be ashamed to say that you’ve had enough of whatever it is that’s making you feel bad!

Normal to combination skin
Skin a little oily but also dry or dehydrated in places? Opt for a gentle foaming wash to keep skin clean and fresh.
Special cleansing gel is soap free and creates a refreshing lather to thoroughly remove impurities without disturbing the skins natural moisture balance.
Always had sensitive, reactive skin? Reach for a cooling gel-cream cleanser designed to gently cleanse whilst minimising irritation.
Ultra Calming Cleanser helps calm and cool the redness associated with reactive, sensitised skin and easily rinses away.
Breakout prone skin
If your skin is oily with congestion or breakouts, select a medicated wash to tackle breakout causing bacteria for a deep clean without stripping skin's essential moisture.
Breakout clearing foaming wash contains Salicylic Acid to decongest and soothing plant botanicals to hydrate and soothe.
Dry & ageing skin
For skins that are dry, rough in texture or lacklustre, boost your cleansing and inner glow with a 2 in 1 exfoliating cleanser.
Skin resurfacing cleanser contains Lactic Acid to smooth and brighten whilst the creamy formula nourishes dry skin.

The summer is over, we are no longer going out, we don't bother to wax our bits, wear as much makeup or wear our nice clothes, instead we tend to put the baggy clothes on & hibernate for the winter
- oh as well as start saving the pennies for Christmas!
The last thing we need is poor retention with our lashes!! But here we go again...
Twice a year, Autumn and Spring, our bodies react to the changing seasons. Our bodies decide it’s time to shed our hair (including our lashes) faster than usual to adjust to the new temperatures and/or lack of sun.
Unfortunately, this means that your lashes may fall out faster than usual, resulting in lashes not lasting as long and also the need for a shorter time between your infills.
Don’t worry though, this will only last for one or two lash cycles and you will be back to normal before you know it!
What to expect-
Rapid loss of lashes
Large gaps in lash line
Less than full looking infills
Earlier scheduled infills
Lots of short anagens growing through
What can you do as a client?
What can we do?
schedule your infill sooner, lighten your lash weight and promise this shed wont last long :)
Are you caring for your skin the right way? It can be easy to fall into bad habits with skincare – here are a few classic skincare mistakes to avoid!
You knew this was coming… there’s never a good reason to skip sun protection. You might not be able to see the harmful effects now, but trust us you will one day! Start protecting your skin to prevent premature ageing, hyperpigmentation, and more serious issues down the line.
Sweating under skincare
You might never have thought about this, but if you apply a heavy cream to your skin and then go to the gym or off for a run, sweat may get trapped underneath it in your pores, instead of evaporating. This can cause pore blockages, leading to spots. Before you workout, apply a very light, oil free product instead, so that your skin can breathe.
We all love to exfoliate – the feeling of freshly scrubbed skin can be addictive! But just remember that over-exfoliating can cause more harm than good. Limit yourself to twice a week, with a gentle, effective scrub formulated for your skin type (unless using Daily Microfoliant). Using a scrub more often than that won’t cure your skin issues; in fact it might make them worse.
Sleeping in makeup
This is one of the worst things you can do to your skin. Whether you’re getting in from a night out and just want to collapse into bed, or you’re working late and want to fall asleep on the sofa, don’t do it! Your skin needs to be clean for its overnight renewal processes to take place properly, and leaving makeup in your pores for that long is a recipe for disaster. Remove every trace of makeup before bed, every night. Your pillowcases will thank you, too!
