Twice a year, Spring and Autumn, our bodies react to the changing seasons. Our bodies decide it’s time to shed our hair (including our lashes) faster than usual to adjust to the new temperatures and/or increase in sunshine.
Unfortunately, this means that your lashes may fall out faster than usual, resulting in lashes not lasting as long and also the need for a shorter time between infills.
Don’t worry though, this will only last for one or two lash cycles and your lashes will be back to normal before you know it!
What is Microdermabrasion?
First developed in Italy in 1985, Microdermabrasion has become an increasingly popular non-invasive treatment for skin rejuvenation. The process of a SkinBase Microdermabrasion (MD) facial involves the abrasive action of tiny crystals, along with a suction action, to gently remove dead skin cells and surface debris. The procedure is simple, quick, and painless, with no downtime, so a perfect choice for regular treatment.
Just one SkinBase signature facial can dramatically improve the feel and appearance of the skin so we recommend a course of facials. This will help remove scars, fine lines and wrinkles, surface pigmentation and even stretch marks!
Please read the following information carefully regarding patch testing of our lash extensions.
*This is specifically about Lash Extension Patch Testing with our LashBase products*
For lifting & tinting a patch test is still required no later than 48 hours before your treatment
Here at The Lash Lounge safe and professional practice is of the most importance to us. This is one of our biggest changes in guidelines and something we have researched & considered in great depth.
Cyanoacrylate contained in lash adhesives is the most common reason for reaction to lash extensions. It is an irritant for your skin, eyes and respiratory functions. For this reason lash adhesive should not touch the skin. For many years we have followed the old-school method by patch testing. However this is not clear indication if a reaction will occur as during the treatment adhesive will never touch your skin.
If someone is allergic to Cyanoacrylate unfortunately you will not be able to have lash extensions applied.
A patch test does not give you full exposure in the same way a full set would.
Lash adhesive allergies are cumulative (meaning they build up over time).
It is unlikely that a client will already have an allergy to cyanoacrylate if they have not previously been exposed to this.
What about our insurance policy?
Well in short they advise we follow our manufactures or suppliers guidelines.
LashBase patch testing guidelines are as follows:
Upon booking your lash extension treatment here at The Lash Lounge, you will be given up to date information regarding lash adhesive and patch testing. Once you have been informed, it is your decision as to wether you would like to have a patch test before proceeding with your treatment.
If you would like to have a patch test before your treatment we advise this to be carried out around 48 hours before your treatment. If you do not wish to go ahead with a patch test you will be required to sign a form stating this. Please note no treatment will be carried out without you agreeing to all of our points relating to patch testing.

There’s no doubt that nowadays more and more of us are suffering from seriously stressed out skin. Here at The Lash Lounge, we have SkinBase treatments available that can treat the symptoms of your skin concerns. However, it’s just as important to address the cause of your skin woes else your skin issues are likely to come straight back.
Is it stress?
Stress can present itself in many different ways throughout the body, including headaches, stomach problems, tiredness and irritability. But it can also manifest as a variety of skin issues such as spots, flaky areas, eczema and rosacea. It can be difficult to work out whether or not stress is the root of these problems, but if you’re experiencing them and you are under any stress, it’s worth considering that it might be the culprit. Stress related skin problems can often be quite stubborn and hard to get rid of, and they will often get worse after periods of intense stress. If this sounds like you, start taking steps to help your body cope, and consider what lifestyle changes you could make to help reduce the stress you’re under. Read on for a few tips to help lift that worry from your shoulders.
Self care for stress
Doing exercise, yoga or meditation can help your body to cope physically with the effects of stress. These practices release happy hormones into the body, and they also give your mind a break from worrying. Stress starts to affect us when we experience it for prolonged periods of time, so by distracting yourself like this, you become stronger and more able to cope.
Lifestyle changes for stress
Eating more healthily, staying hydrated and going to bed on time can all help us to cope better with stress. But you might want to think about whether or not the stress you’re under is worth putting up with – could you be happier in another job? What about therapy? Consider putting yourself first, and focus on creating a life that works for you. Skin problems that are caused by stress are a sign that your body is struggling to cope, so never be ashamed to say that you’ve had enough of whatever it is that’s making you feel bad!

Normal to combination skin
Skin a little oily but also dry or dehydrated in places? Opt for a gentle foaming wash to keep skin clean and fresh.
Special cleansing gel is soap free and creates a refreshing lather to thoroughly remove impurities without disturbing the skins natural moisture balance.
Always had sensitive, reactive skin? Reach for a cooling gel-cream cleanser designed to gently cleanse whilst minimising irritation.
Ultra Calming Cleanser helps calm and cool the redness associated with reactive, sensitised skin and easily rinses away.
Breakout prone skin
If your skin is oily with congestion or breakouts, select a medicated wash to tackle breakout causing bacteria for a deep clean without stripping skin's essential moisture.
Breakout clearing foaming wash contains Salicylic Acid to decongest and soothing plant botanicals to hydrate and soothe.
Dry & ageing skin
For skins that are dry, rough in texture or lacklustre, boost your cleansing and inner glow with a 2 in 1 exfoliating cleanser.
Skin resurfacing cleanser contains Lactic Acid to smooth and brighten whilst the creamy formula nourishes dry skin.
